Nothing to Write Home About was an installation created in the Hamilton building at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts for my Master's thesis in 2009.
While constructing the installation I was thinking about every "home" that I have lived in, at the time of creation I had lived in 28 houses (I am now in number 31.) Living a semi-nomadic life the idea of "home" verses house is something that I think about often. Through this installation I was questioning what is it that defines "home" for me and what does "home" mean to others? I decided to fabricate my aesthetic ideal of a home using handmade objects, paintings, and drawings.
I created every piece that was included in the installation minus a few found obects. Items that I had always wanted as a child but didn't have, such as the Lite-Brite and the yellow stool.
